When Daddy prayed to our Lord
Us kids listened heard every word
There was nothing fancy in the words he said
As we all reverantly bowed our head
He thanked the Lord for
the blessings given
And asked that all our sins
be forgiven
He prayed for our kinfolk
and our neighbors
And asked the Lord to bless
their labors
He asked the Lord in his
every prayer
To keep all his family
in His care
Before each meal his prayers
were said
And at night before we went
to bed
Daddy's faith was always
steadfast and strong
He and Mother taught us
well right from wrong
He never stood taller than
when each day
My Daddy took time to kneel
and pray
